I am honored that you joined my ning platform. You are doing the very things I hope to do in 2009. My 501(c)(3) of choice is the One Laptop Per Child foundation.
I completed my Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies at Indiana University's Center on Philanthropy last December, then applied for a doctoral fellowship to study the social media phenomenon and its affect on charitable giving. Not-for-profits (especially in Indiana) are too focused on using the Internet as a billboard or a donation receptacle. They don't see the big picture.
Beyond your You Tube presentation and a quick scan of your twitter profile and blog I know very little about you, and yet I have already learned so much. Encountering people like you gives me renewed hope that Indiana University and The Center on Philanthropy will catch on, because they are in danger of becoming irrelevant.
Until some University sees the light and helps me pay for my doctoral research, I consult not-for-profits in central Indiana on the use of FREE social media tools to connect with their impassioned donor base. I teach them about using social media and viral marketing techniques to turn their donors into fundraisers.
If you need any guest bloggers, look no further. I'm an Internet infrastructure geek with a BA in Philosophy, an MA in Philanthropy, and a passionate desire to change the world, if I could just find a big enough diaper. *

* I typed the diaper line last night while participating in the #nyetwarty, and it was re-tweeted like crazy. Within 10 minutes, that off the cuff tweet inspired 30 total strangers from across the world to follow me. Twitter is all about pith. Humor and inspirational tweets are re-tweeted more than anything else. Hmmm, sounds like a doctoral research topic, eh? =)
