If that made you laugh then the rest of the story will really split your girdle. It was quite a few years ago and I was attached to the Commodores Staff on Com Phib Ron Three embarked on a Gator Freighter in Norfolk Virginia. One of my reserve buddies, who in civilian life was the Indiana Commissioner of Public Records, had asked me to join him and another Hoosier reservist to down a few brews off base. It’s a good hike from the pier to the gate and it is mostly through a city of warehouses belonging to the supply corps. Block after block of five story buildings filled with the stuff it takes to fight a war... you know, toilet paper and batteries.
I was younger than I am today but uncovered (without a hat) in civilian cloths I was already showing a bald spot when viewed from the air. Added to that I was the guy in the middle. Just too much for any self-respecting seagull to resist. I didn't know what hit me until the big bird fluttered his wings as he recovered from his bombing run I just knew that I had something on my head. My friends were happy to report on the bird’s accuracy... a true bulls eye and nothing on my shoulders or anywhere else. The cautioned me not to touch it, I'd just smear it around. Better to go directly to the men’s room and wash up. They would have a bear waiting for me. Of course, when I came out of the men’s room the whole bar cheered. They never said they wouldn't tell. But wait, my humiliation did not end there; The next day I had to go on an errand and I found myself at the same intersection where the 'attack' had occurred and as I crossed the street I heard a seagull laugh. I looked around and could not see a gull anywhere but I heard it laughing.

I knew I'd heard that line somewhere, but couldn't remember where. How'd you like my avatar (instead of a 'real' picture)?

If you don't mind, I'd like to see if I can invite other makreting people from BPE for coffee as well, for the marketing networking group. I thought we could meet at the Paradise Bakery on Meridian, near 86th St. (I'll find the exact address) around 9:30 am on Wed. Is that a good time for you?

Also, what is the name of the gentelman who is really involved with Kiwanis? I talked to him at the last BPE meeting, but I didn't get his name. You sat next to him.

I have no idea how to work this, but phew at least I found the comment box! =] I'm going to try and make it during Labor Day weekend, but I'm not 100% sure I can make it yet! I hope so, but I think we might have a wedding that weekend....oof! I have 3 weddings this month!

Love the picture - as I go to this site, and Linked In, etc. I really need a class to figure out how to navigate easily. I think that could be where people get lost or don't participate - you just dont have the time to figure play around and figure it out. Plus - where's the opportunity to network and meet new people - perhaps that should be a category. I'm so proud of you - this is wonderful - I just think you could help a lot of people if you had a class, or a section that talked about how to best use the site.
